About us

A second Country Comfort Kennels & Camp for Pets was built in July 1997 complete with playgrounds and nature trails. This “ideal” kennel is nestled along the old Ma & Pa railway bed along Scott Creek and Rt 74 in Delta, PA on 21 beautiful acres.  By 2005, after growing up with the business, sons Arlo and Paul Weiskopf joined their mother in the enterprise.  Together, in March 2007, they opened the upscale Country Comfort Cottage & Camp for Pets in Shrewsbury, PA.  It too is situated on beautiful country acreage with a pastoral stream and meadow.

Unfortunately, unable to acquire adequate staff to meet the rapidly growing demand during the Covid-19 pandemic, CCK had to close the doors to the Delta facility.

We still take pride in our 2  locations in MD and PA to serve the demands of Baltimore, York, Harford and Carroll Counties.  Country Comfort Kennels offers a variety of services specialized to accommodate you and your pet’s needs and we only hire dog and cat-loving staff so you know your pets will be treated like their own. Please browse our site to find out more!

The idea for Country Comfort Kennels was born back in 1974 when founder, Pat Weiskopf, saw the huge need for safe, affordable, and reliable pet care. She spent the next several years learning all she could about the industry.  On March 4, 1983, she opened her first Country Comfort Kennels and Camp for Pets in the Jarrettsville - Madonna MD area.  Situated on the family's 35-acre farmette, it features ponds and a stream for swimming, and nature trails through mowed meadows for hikes.  Lots of personal interaction and off-leash fun in the fenced playground and pond yard made the camp program an instant hit with the pets. They love it and make it known by their excitement on subsequent visits.  Word of mouth led to an unprecedented demand for “camp” services.

We are so much more than a pet boarding kennel. “Camp for Pets” is an all-inclusive vacation for your pet.

"I have been boarding my dogs at country comfort for quite a while now. Its such a nice facility, always clean and welcoming. My dogs love it, so much that I have recommended this kennel to my friends and family. I also love that they go above and beyond, sending out gift cards to use, it's a great surprise. Can not say enough kind words about this facility. We have boarded at both Shrewsbury and the Scott Creek locations. I have worked in the veterinary field for over 8 years and also worked in kennels, so I can be picky about the hands I leave my pets in, and this is the only place I will board anymore." - Brett Knickel

Jarrettsville

The Jarrettsville facility is located 4 miles north of Jarrettsville or Madonna in Street, MD. See map. We offer air-conditioned / heated accommodations for house pets as well as indoor/outdoor runs for dogs who particularly enjoy the outdoors.

We are situated on 35 acres and offer two fenced-in play yards and two ponds for the enjoyment of our canine campers. Dogs and caretakers alike may enjoy the peacefulness and natural beauty that the property has to offer by partaking in daily nature walks, swimming off-leash in the fenced in pond, or playing in one of the fenced in play grounds. Our facility has come to serve as a home away from home for many of our "campers". In just a day or so, most dogs know our routine and are eager to participate.

This is the 7th time we've used Country Comfort Kennels in Jarrettsville. We boarded our two dogs for 9 days and they loved it!!! CCK camp counselors treated our Sugar and Spice as you would like them to be treated. Sugar is 12 and not in the best health. He comes home looking healthy and happy. Spice loves it too so much we have a tough time getting into him into the car. - Tammy and Bill W.

"My cocker spaniel Abbe and I love country comfort kennels! Abbe is boarded there when I vacation and attends day camp when I have errands to run. She looks forward to going and playing with the other dogs. All of the ladies working there are like a burst of sunshine when you walk through the door. Very welcoming and genuinely friendly. Would rate higher than five stars if I could. Thank you to all the great girls/guys for always taking such great care of Abbe! I would never consider going anywhere else..." - Loretta Hamm
